Import into QuickBooks Online from QuickBooks Desktop for Windows (US only)

In this blog we will try to tell you how to import into QuickBooks Online from QuickBooks Desktop for Windows. Remember you can only import QB Desktop data within the first 60 days of your QB Online company start date. Your entire QuickBooks Online file also replaced and overwrite by QB Desktop file. Note: You must be an Administrator user in both your QuickBooks Desktop file and Quickbooks Online account.

Import For Windows

  • First open QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Click Company > Export Company File to QuickBooks Online.
  • Click on agree to the Terms of Service,Enter your login info in QuickBooks Online, and click Submit..
  • If you have inventory in your file, and are importing from the latest version of QuickBooks 2015,the screen below should automatically come up, otherwise skip to step 5.
  • Pick the online company you want to import your data into, or choose to create a new company.
  • Click OK.

After Import:

  • After completed the import, sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  • To ensure that your data was transferred correctly, we suggest you compare the Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet standard reports in QBO and in QuickBooks Desktop.
